Noël Rogan "Gogs" Newell, 82, a homemaker and former service representative for Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Co., died July 1 at her home in Reston.
She was born Dec. 25, 1925, in New Orleans, La., to the late Frank U. and Lucille McLain Rogan. Mrs. Newell attended Louisiana State University on a full academic scholarship, receiving a bachelor's degree in education with a concentration in mathematics in 1946. In their retirement years, the Newells bought a condo in Sanibel Island, Fla., where they entertained their children and grandchildren. Mrs. Newell was especially fond of shelling on Sanibel's beaches. The couple also traveled extensively.
