Arts Ensembles Forming

By restonartistree

ArtisTree is coming to Reston ... and we're bringing Miss Amanda back!

ArtisTree is a creative arts collaborative where children and adults can explore, develop and collaborate in visual and performing arts. ArtisTree provides a community-based "art school experience" in a welcoming, non-judging atmosphere, where imagination and creativity can be fully engaged and nurtured. Our programs include Budding Artists for preschoolers, Homegrown Arts for homeschoolers, the Branching Out weekend enrichment series for adults, the Mod Squad arts and design series for teens and two pre-professional performance ensembles, the Seedlings for young actors and Groundworks for young dancers.

A cornerstone of ArtisTree is the Groundworks Youth Dance Ensemble, founded and directed by Amanda Layton. For several years, Amanda taught creative movement, ballet and modern dance classes at the Reston Community Center and choreographed many shows for the Young Actors' Theatre. "Miss Amanda" was an established presence in youth performing arts in Reston before her career took her to Sterling for the last four years. We are thrilled that she's coming home to help establish Reston's first creative arts collaborative.

ArtisTree will hold on informational meeting on Thursday, August 14th, at 7:00 p.m. at the Reston Community Center at Lake Anne Plaza. Anyone interested in joining as a student or teaching artist is invited to attend. As an arts collaborative, we encourage our members to be active participants in shaping this new, exciting program. This event is not sponsored by the Reston Community Center, its Board of Governors, or staff.
